Climate Change

Climate change is a major concern for everyone, and all eyes are on the conference in Copenhagen.

Judith Dare, a member of this church, is going to Copenhagen as part of a small delegation of three supporters from Tearfund, who have long campaigned on this issue.
She also took part in "The Wave", a march in London last Saturday (5th December) for climate justice (see photo).

Judith has written about her experiences in Copehagen here on the website, and her reflections on the conference outcomes - see Copenhagen Reflections  You can add your own comments if you wish.

"We need to be set free from the idea that we are in charge - domineering and greedy"

Around 50,000 people flowed through London as a 'human wave of support for action on climate change', starting in Grosvenor Square and
finishing at the Houses of Parliament.

Archbishop Rowan Williams was one of the speakers who addressed some of the marchers at the start of the day in Methodist Central Hall - his main theme was that the call of Jesus to share the good news of the Gospel extended to all creation.

Campaigning in Copenhagen

Over the next few days Judith will be taking part in a march organised by Friends of the Earth International, joining in a candlelit vigil, and attending an ecumenical service at the Cathedral.
She will also be involved in the 24-7 prayer vigil which continues throughout the conference.

"If we do not sort this out, it risks becoming the longest suicide note in history." José Manuel Barroso, EC president

But what can I do about it?
